Resource of the Week

As creatives, we're on an eternal quest for inspiration and references. But let's face it, relying on the same old Dribbble and Pinterest is not the move anymore.

Enter SAVEE, my secret sauce for visual and design inspo. I've been using this since last year, and now it's as essential to my projects as caffeine on a Monday morning. And every other morning for that matter.

SAVEE is completely free and completely kicks ass.

Logo Design Disaster : The Gap

This just might be the worst logo redesign in history. In 2010, Gap spent millions of dollars to redesign its classic serif logo… to this!?

The new logo was not only a disaster visually, but after an incredible public backlash, they ended up rolling it back to their previous logo after only six days.

Six days!?? I think that is a record.

How to Have Better Ideas

My favorite way to have better ideas is to ask myself better questions. Here are four questions you can ask to kickstart your creativity and help you have better ideas.

  1. Combine 2 ideas. Maybe even 3. Take the weirdest or best parts from each and mix it around like a red and blue slurpee to form a new and incredible idea.

  2. How would this idea look or feel if it was made by Wes Anderson? Tyler the Creator? Donald Glover? JJ Abrams?

  3. What would a ridiculous, over-the-top, never see the light of day version of this idea look and feel like?

  4. How can I apply some Analogies and Similes and Metaphors? Use em. They can help you uncover new insights and ideas.
